Executive Director, Research

Pip Foweraker is the founder of Certes, building durable infrastructure and support for AI safety researchers and other work on catastrophic and existential risk. Drawing on experience in operations and governance across finance, government, and nonprofits, including serving as COO of Ashgro, Pip is presently working on establishing operations and hiring for Certes' 2026 research agenda.

Lauren predicted GPT-4 by 2025 in 2015, co-founded a now-successful startup to build on this; discovered reliably using AI's power to reach desired ends is difficult. Joined Google to influence research improvements; left; worked on formally specifying the preservation and enhancement of human autonomy. Now draws on those insights to communicate on technical failure mechanisms of AI strategic research.

Charlie Renner

Food Resilience & Disaster Preparedness

Charlie Renner works with Certes on food resilience and community disaster preparedness, drawing on his role as Food Resilience Officer with Far South Food Resilience in southern Tasmania. Deeply embedded in local networks around Huonville and the far south, Charlie helps design and deliver practical projects that strengthen regional self-reliance before and during crises.
